Wycombe forward Aaron Holloway dropped after contract snub

HITC Sport understands Wycombe Wanderers forward Aaron Holloway has rejected a new deal at the club.

Wycombe Wanderers forward Aaron Holloway has been dropped from the starting XI after turning down a new contract at Adams Park, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Holloway has been relegated to the bench by chairboys boss Gareth Ainsworth due to his refusal to accept the new deal on offer from the club.

Despite being dropped from the starting XI in recent weeks, Holloway has come off the bench to score two goals in his last six games.

Holloway has caught the eye at Wycombe since joining on a free transfer in the summer of 2014, helping the club to reach the League Two play-off final.

Wycombe took up the option to extend Holloway's contract for a further year until 2016 just before last season's League Two play-off final, and the club are keen to secure him on a longer deal to ward off growing interest in the former Bristol City youngster.

News of Holloway's contract stand-off is sure to alert a number of clubs in January, with several Championship sides long-term admirers of the Wales youth international.
