Vardy has had a truly stunning season with the Foxes so far, having broken a Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive games, and is currently top of the division's goalscoring charts with 14 efforts to his name.
As a result, there has been speculation that other Premier League clubs will try and prise the 28-year-old away from the King Power Stadium, having helped them to their current position of second in the table, level on points with league leaders Manchester City.
The negotiations for a new deal are said to be a way of fending off interest from other clubs, so one wonders whether there would be a release clause as part of the fresh terms.

At 28, Vardy is definitely in the prime of his career, and his story of climbing through the non-league ranks to Premier League stardom is one that is now well documented.
Though he will be concentrating on his football and hoping to help Leicester maintain their excellent start to the season, the club will not want to let Vardy leave on the cheap if he does depart the club, and if there were to be a desire to part ways at some stage in the future, it would probably make sense to have a release clause in there in terms of a transfer fee so the club don't miss out when it comes to the valuation of the player.
Leicester fans will be nonetheless encouraged that the club are seemingly doing all they can to hold on to their star man for the immediate future, with the report suggesting that all parties hope for talks to be concluded before the festive season. It seems they needn't worry about Vardy's future just yet.
