The three youngsters will hope the club's struggles lead to appearances in the coming weeks.

Newcastle United are currently at a new low. The club succumbed to a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of their former boss Alan Pardew, who was essentially run out of town and has now turned things around at Selhurst Park.

That followed a 3-0 home loss v Leicester City so times are tough for the Newcastle boss Steve McClaren.

Many of his old pros and new signings are simply not producing the goods at the moment so perhaps it is time to bring in a few of the club's youngsters.

Well some of them were certainly present in Newcastle training today.

The trio of Liam Smith, Jamie Sterry and Lubomir Satka were all in action this afternoon with the first-team.

Smith is a local 19-year-old lad who, according to the official Newcastle United website, idolises and models his game on Andres Iniesta. He recently signed a deal at the club after overcoming two seasons of injury misery.

Sterry is another Geordie boy. He recently turned 20 and can play at both right-back and centre-back.

Satka is more well known to Newcastle fans. The Slovakian, who turned 20 yesterday, joined the club in 2012 and has flirted with the first-team before. With Jamaal Lascelles and the returning Mike Williamson both injured the rangy defender might get a nod this weekend v Liverpool.
