BT commentator brands Southampton fans as pathetic for booing Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana

Ian Darke was not impressed with Southampton supporters.

BT Sport commentator Ian Darke has branded Southampton fans 'pathetic' for booing Adam Lallana.

The midfielder quit the Saints in the summer of 2014 to move to Liverpool in an attempt to further his career.

Lallana is in his second season at Liverpool and started at St Mary's last night as the Reds demolished Southampton in the Capital One Cup quarter-final.

A section of Southampton supporters made clear their dislike of former star Lallana, disgruntled at the way he handled his exit from the club.

This disappointed commentator Ian Darke, who took to Twitter to express his opinion.

His sentiments were echoed by another BT man, presenter Jake Humphrey.

Lallana, 27, played more than 260 games for Southampton, netting 60 goals, but clearly his dragged out departure from the club still rankles with supporters.

And to be fair to the midfielder, he even admitted earlier this year to The Telegraph he handled it poorly, and had regrets over the way he left Southampton.

Looking at the possibilities Liverpool have under Jurgen Klopp at present and form they are in, ultimately it is a choice he will be happy he made.
