The Gunners take on the Black Cats this weekend and they could have some very important returning stars.
The Gunners did not have the best of Novembers, their injury crisis worsening with the likes of Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez and Francis Coquelin joining a growing list of absentees. But Wenger seems slightly more optimistic that December could see an upturn in fortune.
“Yes (I’m glad November is over),” Wenger told arsenal.com, “because in the last couple of weeks we lost Francis, Alexis and Santi.
“That is of course too much but hopefully we now have Theo (Walcott) not too far away and (Laurent) Koscielny coming back, too.”
That will certainly be a welcome boost for an Arsenal side that will have high hopes for the remainder of the campaign.
The Gunners are currently fourth in the Premier League just two points behind leaders Manchester City and while they recently dropped five points against West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City they are still in with a good chance of challenging for the title come May.
Next up is that match against Sunderland and it is up to the players Wenger can call on to ensure they get back to winning ways.
