Alan Shearer's response when asked to come out of retirement for Chelsea

Alan Shearer

The Newcastle United legend was asked to help Chelsea score some goals.

Chelsea are currently struggling to find goals in the Premier League. Diego Costa was a revelation last term after his arrival from Atletico Madrid but he has found goals harder to come by this term. Loic Remy has also not been a prolific finisher whilst Radamel Falcao has again failed to impress in English football.

It has now seen one famous Chelsea fan ask the Premier League's most potent marksman ever to come out of retirement to help them out.

BBC presenter Jeremy Vine, who is currently competing in Strictly Come Dancing, sent a tweet asking Shearer to ask him to step back into the game. Shearer responded:

Of course Chelsea could definitely do with a player like Shearer in his plomp right now.

The now 45-year-old former striker scored over 400 goals in his football career but retired nearly ten years ago at the end of the 2005/06 season - so he would not be much use now.

But if Costa, Falcao or Remy could find some of his goalscoring ability right now than the struggling champions might start climbing back up the table.
