The Spaniard has been nothing short of sensational for the Toffees in recent times, scoring one and assisting another for Romelu Lukaku as Roberto Martinez’s men booked their place in the Capital One Cup semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Deulofeu has been a regular face in the Everton starting XI this season, forming a dynamic partnership with Romelu Lukaku in attack.
The 21-year-old now has three goals in 16 appearances after completing a permanent move from Barcelona last summer, and his performances have even extended to the Spanish U21s side as they bid to qualify for the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championships.
Former side Barcelona are believed to have inserted a buy-back clause before letting Deulofeu leave for Goodison Park, and manager Luis Enrique could be tempted to take it up once the La Liga side’s transfer embargo is lifted next month.
However, Cleverley hopes that the winger continues to develop where he is, adding that Deulofeu reminds him of former Manchester United team-mate Nani.
Cleverley told the Echo: “He’s on fire at the minute. He’s playing with massive confidence and the ability he has, he can win games against any team. He’s playing really well and we all hope that continues.
“He’s got talent like Nani and he’s got a fantastic end product as well. It’s not just tricks with Geri, he’s got end product and that’s what his game is based on.”
