Hull City were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City on Tuesday evening.

A quartet of Hull City players have reacted on Twitter after they were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday evening.

Hull travelled to the Etihad Stadium in midweek in buoyant mood, but they were unable to cause an upset against the Premier League leaders.

Although the Tigers put in a spirited display, City’s class eventually told in the fixture and they ran out comfortable winners in the end.

An early goal from Wilfried Bony settled any nerves that City may have felt heading into the game, before a Kevin De Bruyne double and a close-range tap-in from Kelechi Iheanacho sealed Manuel Pellegrini’s side’s progress.

Hull did score a late consolation through Andrew Robertson, but they rarely threatened in an attacking sense.

Hull’s players were understandably disappointed with their exit, but they responded on Twitter after the defeat – largely focusing on the support that they received.

Hull took over 5,000 supporters to the Etihad, and their fans created a great atmosphere throughout the contest.

Mancheser City’s win booked their place in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup. Everton and Stoke City have also made it through to the final four.
