Tim Cahill has expressed his delight on social media site Twitter after Everton booked their place in the Capital One Cup semi-finals.

Cahill, who is a club legend at Everton, watched his former employers take on Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, and he was delighted to see them beat the Championship side.

Everton’s performance against Middlesbrough was highly impressive, and it highlighted how seriously they are taking the League Cup this season.

Roberto Martinez named a strong line-up in the tie, and they outclassed Boro by putting in a fine display.

Gerard Deulofeu and Romelu Lukaku scored in the first half of the contest, as Everton progressed in highly impressive style.

The Toffees have not lifted a trophy for 20 years, but they have a good chance of earning some silverware now.

Everton will find out their opponents in the semi-final this evening, when the draw is made. Manchester City and Stoke City are the other two clubs to have booked their place in the final four.
