Report: Southampton prepared to loan Juanmi back to Malaga in January

The Spanish international has failed to adapt to English football.

A summer recruit for Southampton could be heading out of the club on loan in January - according to reports in Spain.

It is reported by AS in Spain that Malaga are keen on signing the Spanish forward Juanmi on loan, just a few months after losing him to Southampton.

Ronald Koeman is said to be happy with the proposition as Juanmi is not currently in his first-team plans.

Sky Sports report that the summer signing cost Southampton a fee in the region of £5 million, his release clause at his former club, and that looked a bargain.

The 22-year-old had recently made his international debut for Spain and Southampton looked to have snapped up a winner.

But so far he has not made a massive impact at St Mary's.

Juanmi has played just 52 minutes of Premier League football and has struggled to deal with the more physical aspect of English football.

Whether sending him out on loan to his former club will help him settle into English football in the long-run remains up for debate.

But a return to La Rosaleda would certainly give him a chance to play regular football once again.
