Report: Arsenal and Manchester United battle for Ajax starlet Abdelhak Nouri

Everton and Southampton are all also said to be tracking highly-rated attacking midfielder Abdelhak Nouri.

Arsenal and Manchester United are set to do battle for Ajax youngster Abdelhak Nouri, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League duo are reportedly tracking the highly-rated attacking midfielder with a view to making a move in future.

The 18-year-old is being touted as a star of the future in Dutch football, and has already made his debut for Ajax’s second team in Holland’s second tier.

Arsenal seem to be leading the chase, with chief scout Steve Rowley having made several trips to check on the player, a clear sign of the Gunners’ interest.

They are not the only Premier League side who like what they see, though, with scouts from Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Everton having all watched Nouri extensively, according to the Daily Mail.

There is also interest elsewhere in Europe, with Ligue 1 duo Paris St Germain and Marseille showing an interest.

Ajax, though, are sure to be keen to keep hold of their young star, who is captain of both Ajax’s Under-19 team and Holland’s.

If he were to choose a move, it would surely be Arsenal that would be of most interest to him, given their track record of developing young talent over the years.

In contrast, Manchester United have struggled to nurture players of potential in recent seasons, with the struggles of Adnan Januzaj a clear warning to him.
