The full-back pairing have been in fine form for Spurs this season, and they have helped the Lilywhites to go unbeaten through their last 13 Premier League matches.
And Thompson believes that Rose and Walker deserve great credit for their displays, as they have helped to form a reliable foundation for Tottenham to build their team upon.
“I’d mention the other-full back, Danny Rose,” Thompson said. “He’s been absolutely top class.
“He doesn’t make as many mistakes as Walker, but the two of them have unbelievable pace.
“They also have two centre-backs, who are two of the best. It all works well for them. It’s a good base for them.”
Walker and Rose’s pace has enabled them to be threats going forward, while they have also proved to be very solid defensively.
The pair have both improved greatly since the campaign started, and the frailities in their games seem to have been eradicated.
As a result, Spurs have had a very encouraging defensive record in the Premier League this season – and they have only conceded 11 goals in their opening 14 matches.
Tottenham's defensive strength has been a major contributing factor to their impressive start, and Mauricio Pochettino will hope that his team continue to be resilient as the season progresses.
Tottenham are currently just two points off the top-four, with their next fixture coming against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.
