Middlesbrough supporters have lost patience with Carlos de Pena, after the winger put in a poor performance against Everton in the Capital One Cup last night.
Aitor Karanka’s men hosted the Toffees in the quarter-finals of the cup competition yesterday, and they were unable to upset the Premier League side.
Although Boro put in a battling performance in the contest, they were outclassed by a strong Everton team.
Goals from Gerard Deulofeu and Romelu Lukaku saw the Merseyside outfit make it through to the semi-finals, but Middlesbrough fans were largely pleased with their side's performace.
Boro competed well with their top level opponents, but De Pena really struggled to get involved in the game.
The 23-year-old has still not made an impact since moving to the Riverside this summer, and there are fans starting to call for him to be moved out on loan.
Here is the best reaction from Middlesbrough fans on De Pena’s performance on social media site Twitter.
@DomShawGazette Enjoyed your piece on the game, Dom. I think sending De Pena on loan and recalling Reach and Yanic could work.— Si's Insights (@sis_insights) December 2, 2015
@sis_insights Thanks Si. Yeah, frustrating with de Pena. Realise it can be difficult to settle but no real signs of promise yet.— Dominic Shaw (@DomShawGazette) December 2, 2015
@andrew_glover I've been willing to give him a chance for weeks, but last night my patience with De Pena finally ran out.— Si's Insights (@sis_insights) December 2, 2015
Why is De Pena watching us attack from 30 yards away? #UTB— Chris Walker (@ChrisWalker__) December 1, 2015
