Southampton take on Liverpool at St Mary’s Stadium this evening, hoping to book a place in the League Cup semi-finals.
Ronald Koeman’s men have never won the League Cup, being losing finalists in 1979, whilst Liverpool have picked up eight trophies - the most recent in 2012.
They head into the game on the back of a 1-0 victory over Swansea City, looking to come closer to Jurgen Klopp’s first piece of silverware since arriving at Anfield earlier this season.
The Saints, on the other hand, were on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat at the weekend. Manchester City dished out the defeat, although Foeman’s men were better than the result suggested, and they should have really left the game with at least a point.
Both teams will fancy their chances of winning the trophy should they get through this tough game, with just three other sides left in contention.
Everton, Manchester City and Stoke are the other semi-finalists, and the draw for the next round of the tournament comes following the end of the game tonight.
