Arsenal should look at recently released Carl Medjani after Francis Coquelin injury

The Algerian captain has become a free agent after leaving Trabzonspor.

Arsenal recently unearthed their solution to one of their most troublesome positions, the holding midfield area.

Francis Coquelin has been a revelation in 2015 and become a star of the Arsenal first-team.

Now Arsenal are unfortunately without the player for several months after he picked up an injury.

Mathieu Flamini is now looking like a more regular starter but Arsenal might do well to bring in a holding midfielder who recently became a free agent.

Carl Medjani left Trabzonspor last month after the Turkish club had a revamp of their playing squad.

The Algerian is a former Liverpool youngster and he was also linked with a return to Liverpool by talkSPORT in the summer.

The 30-year-old's club career has never really taken off. His most successful stint was with Ajaccio but has also had spells wit Olympiakos and Monaco.

But for Algeria he is a star. A regular in the Desert Foxes starting XI since reverting nationalities from France he is also the current captain for his nation. He is also versatile and could fill in at centre-back in case of any injuries at Arsenal.

Similarly to Kim Kallstrom he would not be an awe-inspiring signing but a useful one to get Arsenal to the end of the season when they can utilise the more fruitful summer transfer market for a more long-term option.
