Taking a look at a player who could be the difference when West Ham United take on Manchester United this weekend.
On the opening weekend of the season West Ham United went to Arsenal and won in emphatic fashion, keeping a clean sheet, introducing the world to 16-year-old Reece Oxford and suggesting their summer signings had wasted little time settling in.
While Dimitri Payet caught the eye, not for the last time, centre-back Angelo Ogbonna looked solid against an Arsenal front-line that found no way through.
The former Juventus defender again played a vital role when West Ham added to their 2-0 victory against Arsenal with a 3-0 win away to Liverpool, suggesting they were going to be very hard to beat on the road.
So it proved when they overcame Manchester City and Crystal Palace, and while Ogbonna did not play in those encounters it is telling that West Ham’s only clean sheets away from home in the league have come when the 27-year-old has started.
Back in the line-up for the weekend clash against West Bromwich Albion, Ogbonna will now be looking ahead to facing Manchester United, knowing he could help add another famous scalp to a growing list.
While Payet is currently side-lined and the Hammers are struggling to maintain their early momentum, Ogbonna could prove to be the key man against a side that will be desperate to reach the Premier League summit in the closest of title races.
