HITC Sport understands the former Celtic defender could be in line for a return to Toronto FC.
Former Celtic defender Darren O'Dea is being chased by a number of Major League Soccer sides, including former club Toronto FC.
O'Dea is currently plying his trade in the Indian Super League with Mumbai City after joining the club in the summer to link up with Nicolas Anelka's side.
The 28-year-old, who has made eight appearances for Mumbai City, is out of contract later this month and the news has alerted a number of clubs.
Toronto FC are thought to be leading the chase to sign the Republic of Ireland international on a free transfer when his contract expires at Mumbai City.
O'Dea enjoyed a one-year stay at Toronto in 2012, making 26 appearances for the club before joining Ukrainian side FC Metalurh Donetsk.
Toronto were interested in signing O'Dea in the summer before he opted to join Mumbai City and they have continued to keep tabs on his progress.
Several other MLS sides have expressed an interest in O'Dea and the former Leeds and Ipswich centre-back is set to make a decision on his future in the New Year.
