Leeds United continue to struggle in the Championship despite some notable summer additions.
Leeds were looking very much on the up when they overcame Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town to build up a head of steam, but the international break came at the wrong time and they have now lost 1-0 in their last two league outings.
Those setbacks mean Leeds are currently 17th in the Championship with the games coming thick and fast with Christmas approaching, and Evans has laid down the gauntlet to his high-earning stars who need to up their game or risk fighting a relegation battle in the months ahead.
“There are players here who cost a lot of money or are on a lot of money,” Evans told the YEP. “They need to stand up and be counted now.”
They certainly do, with summer signing Chris Wood one such player who has been hit-and-miss thus far.
The New Zealand international is not the only one and it will be interesting to see how Leeds respond when they take on Hull City at Elland Road on Saturday.
