Former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell predicted on the Matchday Live with Fletch & Sav show on BT Sport 1 on Saturday morning (November 28) that Manchester City will win the Premier League title this season.
The former England international expects Arsenal to finish second, and Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to end up third and fourth respectively in the standings (see tweet above).
“I think Liverpool have a great manager, they will do really well, but I think it is just too early for them to get into the top four,” added Campbell.
United, City and Arsenal are the top three candidates for the Premier League title this season.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini has the best squad in England, but Arsenal and United’s chances cannot be written off just yet.
Louis van Gaal’s side are picking up points without playing well and are only a point off the pace at the moment, while the Gunners have a very good team and are currently just two points behind leaders City .
Liverpool and Tottenham are likely to take the race for the prized fourth spot down to the final weekend of the season.
Under new manager Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have looked very confident in recent weeks, while Spurs have been the most consistent team in the Premier League so far this campaign.
If Tottenham continue to be consistent, then they could even become serious contenders for the Premier League title.
Chelsea’s chances of winning the title are long gone, but perhaps it is too early to suggest that they will not be able to challenge for the top four.
On paper, the Blues have the second best squad in the Premier League after City, and a run of positive results could see them end up in the top four.
