The young French midfielder is becoming something of a regular in the rumour mill when it comes to Tottenham Hotspur.
Some players seem to be forever linked with one club without ever actually making the move – the rumour mill recycling the same non-story every time another transfer window rolls around.
In the case of Tottenham Hotspur, that appears to be happening with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot – a 20-year-old talent who is simply not needed at White Hart Lane despite the regular reports to the contrary.
Rabiot has been linked with Spurs for the last few transfer windows and with January fast approaching, the young Frenchman is again said to be in Tottenham’s sights.
The Independent reports that Arsenal are now interested in Rabiot, but that they are likely to face competition from their North London rivals if he does leave PSG.
But just as Manchester United fans are now used to the bizarre yet constant links with Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan, so Tottenham fans should take the latest Rabiot rumours with a pinch of salt.
After all, if Spurs were to buy another midfielder they would surely aim for a more experienced player, while the emergence of Eric Dier and Dele Alli means that area of the field is one manager Mauricio Pochettino need not worry about for quite some time.
With Nabil Bentaleb, Mousa Dembele and Ryan Mason also available in the coming seasons the simple fact is the Rabiot story makes little sense and is simply a re-hashed and somewhat lazy rumour.
Expect the reports to continue, but the player himself could well never arrive despite the countless column inches suggesting the contrary.
