The Aston Villa left-back is seemingly no longer an option for loan club FC Porto...even from the bench.
When Aston Villa sent Aly Cissokho on loan to FC Porto in the summer it seemed the left-back’s time at the club could be coming to an end despite still having three years left on his contract.
With Jordan Amavi arriving – and impressing – Cissokho was quickly forgotten but the young Frenchman’s season-ending injury means his countryman could be more important than previously thought.
The 28-year-old signed for Porto on a season-long loan move but he has featured just three times to date and a recent report from Portuguese website Sapo suggested he was losing his battle to even be a substitute from here on.
With the report suggesting Cissokho is no longer seen as even a viable back-up at Porto, surely an early return to Villa would suit all parties, especially with Amavi’s absence keenly felt in Remi Garde’s early matches at the helm.
Kieran Richardson has, as expected, stepped in with Amavi absent, but surely a move to bring Cissokho back to Villa Park is only a matter of time.
