The Hungarian has had to settle for a place on the bench since his move in the summer.
The Belgian is very much the number one at Anfield at present, having managed to re-establish himself in the side after struggling in the past.
That turnaround is clear when it comes to the stats, with no goalkeeper having managed to keep more clean sheets in the Premier League in 2015 other than him.
Despite that, Mignolet is far from trusted by the Liverpool faithful, with last week’s blunder against Bordeaux seeing him come in for stern criticism.
While Bogdan is keen on usurping his rival for the number one spot, he has made it clear that Mignolet has his full respect.
“Simon is fantastic, he has my full respect,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“Having him alongside me every day is good in one way, but in the other way (playing games) maybe it is not so good!
“Having someone like Simon to compete with spurs me on to do more on the training pitch, more in the gym, and to practice even more.”
With Mignolet having come in for criticism again recently, there is again talk that he should be replaced as the number one at Anfield.
As already mentioned, he does boast the best clean sheet record for 2015 in the Premier League, meaning he does have the quality despite his sometimes-shaky displays suggesting otherwise.
With Bogdan set to feature in the cup on Wednesday, though, perhaps that is a chance for the Hungarian to stake his claim for that number one spot.
