Pepe Reina continued his superb form for Napoli with a sensational match-winning save in their 2-1 victory over Inter Milan that was reminiscent of the Spaniard during his Liverpool pomp.
Prior to Adem Ljajic's goal, which reduced the arrears following a Gonzalo Higuain brace netted either side of half-time, the Spanish shot-stopper had gone 534 minutes without conceding.
But despite this setback, Reina more than made up for shipping a goal with a sublime last-gasp save to deny Inter defender Miranda what looked like a near-certain equaliser.
Napoli went on to win the game with their goalkeeper garnering plenty in the way of praise for his incredible efforts on Twitter, starting with former Liverpool teammate and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher:
Several notable Italian football pundits were similarly gushing in their assessment of what is already being dubbed by some as the save of the season.
James Horncastle, for example, was among those to heap praise on Reina:
Reina pushes it onto the post with his fingertips. What a save. Napoli now under the Curva— James Horncastle (@JamesHorncastle) November 30, 2015
While BT Sport co-hort Paolo Bandini was equally impressed by what he had seen:
Overall, though, think this still validated Napoli as best in Serie A right now (for me, anyway). Higuain monstrous. Reina still got it.— Paolo Bandini (@Paolo_Bandini) November 30, 2015
Elsewhere, Gabriele Marcotti offered up his view the Napoli keeper's super save:
Pepe Reina could probably run for Mayor of Naples right now. And win.— Gabriele Marcotti (@Marcotti) November 30, 2015
And fans everywhere seemed pretty much flabbergasted by what they had just witnessed:
pepe reina is one of the best GK's in the world...Mignolet isnt— Rowan Vine (@rowanvine) November 30, 2015
What a finish in the Napoli - inter game !! If you backed Napoli your heart must be In your mouth !! Pepe reina saves the day #goalie— scott lucas (@lucas1official) November 30, 2015
As good a save as you are likely to see, we can only wonder how many Liverpool fans are now wishing they had Reina between the sticks rather than Simon '30 seconds' Mignolet - where do you stand?
