HITC Sport understands that the highly-rated non-league coach is among those being looked at by the Spireites.
Highly-rated non-league boss Adrian Pennock is among the names being considered by Chesterfield to replace Dean Saunders, HITC Sport understands.
Saunders parted company with The Spireites over the weekend after they suffered a fourth straight loss, although they still lie just 16th in the table.
44-year-old Pennock has been in charge of Forest Green Rovers since late 2013, following a number of years at Stoke City under Tony Pulis, where he became first-team coach.
Pennock has turned Forest Green into promotion contenders this season for a place in the Football League, but his success has not gone unnoticed by a number of league clubs in recent months.
Now Chesterfield are understood to be taking a close look at Pennock, although they are known to have already had a number of applications.
Former Barnsley boss Danny Wilson is the bookmakers’ favourite, whilst former Chesterfield players Jack Lester and Richie Humphreys have also been linked with the post.
