Alan Shearer uses Daryl Janmaat to demonstrate Newcastle players’ lack of commitment

Alan Shearer was far from impressed with Newcastle United’s performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Alan Shearer has criticised the lack of commitment from the Newcastle United players in The Sun.

The Newcastle legend has highlighted an incident from the MagpiesPremier League game against Crystal Palace at the weekend to demonstrate his point.

“This current group of players simply do not want to do it for the club,” Shearer wrote in The Sun. “You only had to see Daryl Janmaat turn his back on a shot at Crystal Palace to know the level of commitment now.”

Newcastle’s performance against Palace at Selhurst Park in London was one of their worst of the season so far.

Despite taking the lead, Steve McClaren’s side ended up losing the Premier League encounter 5-1.

The way that the Magpies collapsed was astounding, and even more disappointing for the fans was the failure of the players to even try to launch a comeback against the Eagles.

Newcastle are a big football club, but they are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

It is high time that the players raise their game and put together a run of positive results.

The Magpies will take on Liverpool at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
