Report: Three Chelsea players to be offered to Everton as part of renewed Stones bid

Chelsea remain keen on signing John Stones from Everton.

Everton won plenty of plaudits for holding firm amid interest from Chelsea for star defender John Stones in the summer.

With the winter transfer window approaching, speculation is already beginning to resurface surrounding the future of the England international.

The Sun report the Blues are planning to test Everton's resolve once again, and will offer the chance to sign one of three fringe players at the club in part-exchange.

The trio is made up of Bertrand Traore, Andreas Christensen, and Papy Djilobodji.

Who are they?

The three are not exactly household names, and would be financial footnotes in a transfer which would still require a huge fee to convince Everton to agree to a deal.

Traore, 20, is a 15-capped Burkina Faso international who is an attacking midfielder who can also play up front or on either wing. He has appeared for Chelsea as a substitute in the Champions League this season, and also came off the bench in a League Cup game.

He has spent time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in Holland where he recorded a respectable record of 20 goals in 51 appearances.

Andreas Christensen is more of a like for like replacement for Stones. He is a Danish centre-back who is similar in style, but has found his opportunities limited at Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Borussia Moenchengladbach, where he has played 11 times in the Bundesliga this season, but Chelsea's reported desire to include him in a bid for Stones would indicate they have a recall option with the German side.

26-year-old Papy Djilobodji is the most experienced of the trio, and has only just signed for Chelsea. He was a surprise deadline day addition after they failed to sign Stones, but Jose Mourinho has made clear he does not intend on playing the former Nantes defender.
