Tottenham round-up: Early team news, Son on Chelsea clash and Berahino latest

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur take on Chelsea this afternoon in a huge match for both sides, and Mauricio Pochettino’s men will know they can lay down a marker if they defeat Jose Mourinho’s struggling champions.

In early team news, the BBC reports that Tottenham are without teenage midfielder Dele Alli due to suspension. However, trio Mousa Dembele, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose are all set to return after being rested for the recent Europa League clash with FK Qarabag.

Chelsea have major doubts regarding John Terry and Ramires but Cesc Fabregas should be fit to start.

In other news, the Daily Star Sunday reports that Tottenham are prepared to offer West Bromwich Albion £25million cash plus winger Andros Townsend in a bid to finally secure the signature of Saido Berahino in January.

It remains to be seen if the Baggies will do business after standing firm in the summer.

And finally, Tottenham’s summer signing Heung-Min Son has been speaking to the club’s official website ahead of the match with Chelsea and he has urged a positive attitude in order to secure a win.

“This is very important because it is not a normal game; it’s a London derby and it’s very exciting for the fans,” Son said. “I can’t say now we will win for sure but we are the same, very strong, very positive.”

A victory for Spurs this afternoon and any remaining doubters will surely acknowledge they can challenge not only for a top-four place but also for the title this season.
