Tottenham confirm Erik Lamela available for Chelsea clash

The Argentine has shaken off injury and is in contention for today’s game.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed on their official website that Erik Lamela has recovered from a recent injury and is in contention to feature today against Chelsea.

The Argentina international picked up a groin strain and missed the trip to Azerbaijan to face Qarabag in the Europa League in midweek.

Mauricio Pochettino has looked to his compatriot this season and appears to be getting improved performances from the former Roma man.

The club’s official website has confirmed that Lamela is in contention for a starting berth for the encounter with the Premier League champions, giving the side’s manager a personnel dilemma on the right of midfield.

Summer signing Son Heung-min has been getting the nod in Lamela’s absence and has started the new campaign in impressive fashion.

Whoever starts on the right for Spurs will be important for their side’s chances of victory, with left-back a problem area for Chelsea this term.

Lamela has started eight Premier League games this season so far, scoring two goals and creating three assists. His man-of-the-match performance in the 4-1 win over Manchester City was arguably his best outing in a Tottenham shirt.
