The Argentine headed back to Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.
He was signed from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk on a season-long loan deal which, according to the Daily Mail, included a condition to buy him for £6.5 million at the end of the spell if he impressed.
Ferreyra was said desperate to get away from Ukraine and the move seemed like a good one on paper.
However, he struggled with the physical side of the English game and he left the club in May without playing as much as a minute for the club - making the bench just five times in his season on Tyneside.
This summer, after leaving Newcastle, he was linked with several teams but nothing came to pass and he is now back with Shakhtar and is again struggling for first-team football.
However he has scored this season, in the Ukrainian Cup, and netted again today. He scored and played 90 minutes as Shakhtar beat Hoverla 6-1 in the Ukrainian Premier League, scoring the fourth goal which you can see in the below video:
Of course he is not playing often at the club and it is unlikely he would be making much difference at Newcastle.
But in the same weekend that Newcastle lost 5-1 perhaps they should have given Fereyra a shot.
