Things went from bad to worse for the Villa faithful on Saturday afternoon.
Aston Villa fans felt as though they were spited by the footballing Gods on Saturday afternoon. Not only did they lose 3-2 to Watford, making many supporters feel as though relegation is all but confirmed this early in the season, but Fabian Delph netted for Manchester City late on against Southampton.
Naturally, Villa fans are still raw over the 26-year-old's summer departure. Were the midfielder still at Villa Park, how much sharper would they look?
Aston Villa put another poor performance in at home as Watford left the Midlands with all three points on Saturday but it just seemed as though insult was being added to injury when Delph netted for Manchester City.
City are back at the top of the Premier League table after beating Southampton 3-1 and seeing a number of nearby rivals drop points. Delph at the summit - Villa at the foot of the standings...
Here's how Aston Villa fans reacted on Twitter after the unfortunate turn of events. Can anything save the Midlands outfit this term? And will Delph now start to make a real impact at Manchester City?
As if things couldn't get any worse, I have just seen that Delph scored today.... That's it, I'm going "Full Grealish" tonight. #avfc— L Pinn (@leopinnock) November 28, 2015
Lose to Watford, Sunderland win and Delph scores. What a poxy day to be an #avfc fan. 100% relegated— Rob McGrath (@robrieguez) November 28, 2015
Delph just scored. If there is a god, he hates Villa. Hates them. #avfc— mgw (@mgw365) November 28, 2015
