Crystal Palace will face Newcastle United at Selhurst Park in the Premier League later today.

Newcastle United attacker Siem de Jong has told The Chronicle that he thinks that Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is a good manager.

Pardew was in charge of Newcastle from December 2010 until the middle of last season when he moved to Palace.

“I never really played under Pardew,” De Jong told The Chronicle. “In pre-season, I played under him but then I got injured.

“It was a bit of a strange situation. I think he’s a good manager and I think we have a good manager (Steve McClaren) as well.”

Palace and Newcastle will face each other at Selhurst Park in the Premier League later today.

Pardew’s side will head into the game in London on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Sunderland.

The Eagles are 10th in the league table at the moment with 19 points from 13 matches.

Meanwhile, Newcastle currently find themselves 17th in the standings with 10 points from 13 matches.

The Magpies are just a point above the bottom three and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Steve McClaren’s side will head into Saturday afternoon’s match on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Leicester City at St. James’ Park.
