Former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins predicted on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning that Crystal Palace will win against Newcastle United today.
Palace will host the Magpies at Selhurst Park in London in the Premier League this afternoon, and Wilkins has backed the home team to pick up all three points.
“I think this one’s a bit too much for Newcastle to be honest,” said the Englishman on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning.
“I think Palace are one of those sides who put you under a lot of pressure, and it seems that Newcastle are buckling under pressure when they get put under it. I am gonna go for a Palace win.”
Palace will head into the Premier League game against Newcastle at Selhurst Park on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Sunderland. The Eagles are 10th in the league table at the moment with 19 points from 13 matches.
Meanwhile, Newcastle currently find themselves 17th in the standings with 10 points from 13 matches. The Magpies are just a point above the bottom three and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Steve McClaren’s side will head into this afternoon’s encounter on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Leicester City at St. James’ Park.
