Lineker jokes about Newcastle boss on Twitter, Robbie Fowler comments on future

Steve McClaren

Newcastle United suffered a heavy defeat to Crystal Palace away from home in the Premier League today.

Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Newcastle United’s performance against Crystal Palace today.

Newcastle suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Palace away from home at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.

It was one of the worst performances from the Magpies this season, and Lineker has made a joke about head coach Steve McClaren and the criticism he will get.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has suggested on Twitter that McClaren may not remain in the Newcastle manaherial job for long.

Newcastle are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from 14 matches.

The Magpies are two points behind 17th-place Sunderland and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

McClaren’s side will return to action next weekend when they take on Liverpool at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
