John Barnes comments on Aston Villa’s survival chances

Aston Villa are struggling in the Premier League at the moment.

Former Newcastle United winger John Barnes has suggested on that Aston Villa could get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Villans are at the foot of the league table at the moment with five points from 13 matches, five points behind 17th-place Newcastle.

“Remi Garde has a huge job on his hands and he’ll need to bring in three or four players in January if he’s going to have any chance to keep the club in the Premier League,” Barnes wrote on

“The simple fact is Villa’s players just aren’t good enough. They lost Christian Benteke in the summer but didn’t replace him, which is a huge issue. I fear for Villa at the moment because they just don’t have much quality.”

Villa have been struggling all season, and there is a real danger that the Villans could drop down to the Championship.

New manager Remi Garde has a tough task on his hand, and he may have to dip into the transfer market in January.

There are some good players in the current Villa squad, but there are also a number of average ones.

The positive thing is that Garde still has some time to evaluate his squad and then sign the players he needs in January.

All is not lost for Villa, but they do need to put together a run of positive results soon.
