Jeffrey Schlupp could have joined Manchester United from Leicester City in 2013

The Ghanaian was on trial at the club and on the verge of a deal.

Manchester United take on Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend in what is a surprise top two clash.

Leicester have started the season in incredible fashion and are currently top of the Premier League. United have been more conservative but have ground out results to keep themselves in touch.

There have been plenty of surprise performers at Leicester this term - including the likes of Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton and Riyad Mahrez. Ghanaian international Jeffrey Schlupp has also had a good season with the club.

If things have panned out differently Schlupp might have ended up a United player.

In March 2013 it was reported by the BBC that Schlupp was on the verge of joining United after a month long trial at Old Trafford.

In fact if Sir Alex Ferguson had not left the club who knows, Schlupp might have joined United in 2013.

Schlupp has now found his niche on the left-hand side and has featured 14 times for The Foxes tomorrow. But when he takes to the field against United tomorrow as a table-topper he will certainly look back on his trial with United and realise he has not done too badly without an Old Trafford move.
