The defender says it is substance over style for Remi Garde's men this weekend.
Joleon Lescott has told Aston Villa’s official website that their main aim this weekend is to secure all three points against Watford.
Villa are currently bottom of the Premier League table after a disastrous start to the season.
They are winless since the opening day of the season, with new boss Remi Garde seeking to secure the first win of his reign.
Much has been made of how they can turn things around, but Lescott says that they aren’t focused on strategy, with three points being the most important thing.
“We have one aim on our mind – winning. The aim is to get three points regardless of how we play,” he told avfc.co.uk.
“Whether that's a top, top performance or a scrappy 1-0 win - we'll take anything.”
“It's about moving forward step by step at the moment. Our aim is to get out of the bottom three. That is a realistic goal for us to look at.”
Aston Villa need to go back to basics
If there is one thing Aston Villa are missing at present, it is any type of style that they can call their own.
They had started to develop something of one under Sherwood last season, but the losses of Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke ruined those plans.
So far under Garde there has also not been any clear indication of the type of football he is keen to see the side play under his leadership.
Perhaps that, then, should be his primary aim, as he looks to help Villa avoid another dalliance with relegation this season.
