The Magpies suffered a 3-0 defeat to Leicester at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
England international striker Jamie Vardy put the Foxes ahead on the stroke of half time, and Leonardo Ulloa and Shinji Okazaki found the target in the second half.
“We started well and then it was a big disappointment for us,” Anita told The Chronicle. “They scored at the end of the first half but it still wasn’t over.
“I felt in the first half we played well but we conceded a goal at the end. At half-time we talked to each other and said: ‘We can still win this’.
“Then we started the second, we were sloppy and conceded but you can still get back into a game at 2-0. We didn’t create enough chances on the day.”
Newcastle are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 10 points from 13 matches, just a point above the bottom three.
The Magpies are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season and need to start winning games.
Steve McClaren’s side will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.
Palace are currently 10th in the league table with 19 points from 13 games.
