Spurs take on the Blues on Sunday afternoon after making a long trip to take on FC Qarabag in the Europa League.
Pochettino named a fairly strong squad for that game, which they won 1-0, with most of his first team stars starting in the continental contest.
And he admits that may result in them not being in the best condition for Sunday’s big London derby.
“We will make sure we will arrive in good condition to play Chelsea,” TalkSport reports him saying.
“We have a strong squad and a strong mentality with the maturity.”
“It is true we arrive maybe not in the best condition to compete in the right way but respect to our medical staff for what they do. On Saturday we will assess.”
Given the quality of the opponents that Spurs were taking on in the Europa League, there is an argument that suggests Pochettino could have rested more of his star turns.
He is, though, sure to argue that losing a game could have derailed their current run of good form and the winning mentality they are building.
He may, as well, be eyeing a long run in the competition, with the offer of a trophy and a Champions League place for the winners sure to be a lucrative one.
Whether Spurs fans will look at it that way should they be beaten on Sunday, is not yet known.
