Spurs were 1-0 victors over their Azerbaijani opponents, after playing out what was a very tough contest.
Qarabag defended resiliently for most of the match, but they were powerless to resist as Kane headed home a late winner to provide Tottenham with the three points.
Spurs are now guaranteed to make it through their group in the Europa League, and Kane and Alderweireld were delighted with their progress.
Good solid performance tonight. Happy with the win and the qualification to the next round. A big thanks for the travelling fans #Coys— Alderweireld Toby (@AlderweireldTob) November 26, 2015
Tottenham were handed a tough draw in the Europa League, but Mauricio Pochettino has made the competition one of his priorities this season.
While many English clubs have rotated in the competition, the Lilywhites have named strong line-ups, and they did so again in midweek.
A number of Tottenham’s key stars played the full 90 minutes in Azerbaijan, and Pochettino will be hoping that their exertions do not negatively impact on their performance this weekend.
Spurs face Chelsea in Premier League action on Sunday, and a win in that fixture would really strengthen Pochettino’s side’s top-four chances.
