Paul Merson predicts West Ham v West Brom, has stinging criticism for Hammers

Payet Skill

The Sky Sports pundit does not accept Dimitri Payet's absence as an excuse.

West Ham take on West Brom this weekend in the Premier League looking to pick up their first win in three and to bounce back from a 4-1 thrashing inflicted by rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Paul Merson has been making his Premier League predictions for Sky Sports ahead of this weekend's fixtures and he is not impressed with West Ham's current form.

He is backing them to get back to it this weekend with a 2-0 win over West Brom at Upton Park but he had some stinging words of criticism regarding Dimitri Payet.

He stated:

"West Ham need to get moving. They need to win. They're starting to all of a sudden become the team we expected them to be at the start of the season.

"I know they miss Dimitri Payet, but you can't rely on one player, and that's disrespectful to the rest of the players too."

Payet is out until the New Year after a naughty foul from Everton combatant James McCarthy crocked the Frenchman who has had an excellent first season in the Premier League.

His absence has been keenly felt, with The Hammers flopping to a 4-1 defeat against Tottenham last week.

However the club does have the talent on board to be able to handle the rigors of Premier League football without the talented French talisman.

Those now being asked to step up need to do so to avoid this blip becoming a slump for Slaven Bilic's men.
