Sunderland will face Stoke City at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Former Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has predicted on Colossusbets.com that Sunderland will fail to win against Stoke City this weekend.

Sunderland will take on Stoke at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, and Owen believes that the Black Cats will not win.

“As I said earlier, Sunderland’s tails will be up after their win on Monday night – and they won this fixture 3-1 last season – but they host a Stoke side that have gone back to basics it seems, and are very hard to play against, and beat, at the moment,” the former England international striker wrote on Colossusbets.com.

“They haven’t conceded in their last three games, and 1-0 successes at home to Chelsea and away at Southampton underline what a good side they are on their day. I take Stoke to win either 1-0 or 2-1, with 1-1 as a back-up score line.”

Sunderland will head into Saturday’s match high on confidence, having defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 away from home at Selhurst Park in the Premier League on Monday night.

The Black Cats are third from bottom in the league table with nine points from 13 matches, just a point behind 17th-place Newcastke.

The victory over high-flying Palace will have enhanced the confidence of the Sunderland players, who will be determined to pick up all three points against Stoke in front of their own fans.

Stoke are having a good season and currently find themselves 11th in the league table with 19 points from 13 matches.

The Potters are pushing for a top-10 finish in the Premier League this season, and they will want to at least pick up a point at the Stadium of Light.
