Micah Richards has told the Telegraph that he is enjoying every minute at Aston Villa, despite their poor start to the season.
Richards has made a big impression at Villa Park since arriving in the summer transfer window, and he is one of few recent recruits that be considered to have been a success.
The England international has already been handed the captain’s armband at Villa, and his performances in defence have been highly impressive.
Despite Richards’ fine form, Villa currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, but the former Manchester City man says he’s loving life at the Midlands club.
“Coming here was a massive relief for me and, to be honest, apart from the situation we’re in, I’ve enjoyed every single minute," he said. "I knew this wasn’t going to be easy but I still didn’t think it would be this tough.”
Prior to his move to Villa, Richards had been starved of first team football at Manchester City, and he spent last season on loan at Fiorentina.
Richards has not been given a gentle introduction to playing regularly again, though, and Villa will be relying on him to keep his performance levels up.
The Claret and Blues are currently five points adrift of safety – and they are in danger of being cast adrift, if they fail to beat Watford at the weekend.
