Jose Mourinho comments on Tottenham’s title chances

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea will face each other in the Premier League on Sunday.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has said that he would not dismiss Tottenham Hotspur as title contenders as he considers them a very good team with great stability, the London Evening Standard reports.

Tottenham host Chelsea on Sunday with both teams heading into the encounter at White Hart Lane having experienced somewhat contrasting starts to the current campaign.

While the Blues are vastly underachieving and lie in the bottom reaches of the table, Spurs currently preside over a 12-game unbeaten league run and sit just four points off top spot.

Considering their form of late and general improvement, many have speculated whether Spurs could win the title this season and Mourinho agreed that they are contenders when pressed on the matter.

“When I watch them play, it’s [their improvement] not a surprise for me. If they tell players or manager they are fighting for the title I would not laugh,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

“I’d accept it as the team is very good. The manager is good. The players are good. They have good stability and I think they’re a very good team.”

Spurs look a completely different proposition to last season, with a greater solidarity through the middle and a big improvement in the defence with the arrival of Toby Alderweireld.

While some could question Spurs still look a little thin in terms of squad quality, their starting xi is certainly up there with the best as proven with their displays against Arsenal and Manchester City.

The North London outfit defeated Chelsea 5-3 in their last encounter at White Hart Lane, and both clubs have seemingly moved in different directions sine that enthralling encounter.

Spurs will head in to the clash as favourites, and on current form you would be brave man to back against Mauricio Pochettino’s side from extending their impressive unbeaten run.
