Jermaine Jenas not surprised by praise for Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele

The midfielder has been highly impressive so far this season.

Jermaine Jenas has told BT Sport, broadcast from 5:30pm on 26th November, that he is not surprised by the praise Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has received.

The Belgian has been highly impressive so far this season, having firmly established himself in Spurs' midfield.

He has put in a number of top performances, having also found his goalscoring boots on several occasions.

That has led to him earning plenty of plaudits, and former Spurs man Jenas says they are well deserved.

“He’s been one of those players that you’ve been waiting for him to come out of his shell and show what everyone knows he can do,” he told BT Sport.

“This season he’s really shone. He’s taken his game to another level. It doesn’t surprise me the kind of plaudits he’s getting.

“He’s one of the players Mauricio will be looking to in that game against Chelsea.”

Despite Jenas’ comments, it is somewhat surprising the praise Dembele has received this season.

Given how well several other Spurs players have performed this season, the likes of Dele Alli and Eric Dier, it would be easy to have overlooked the Belgian’s role.

With him enjoying a more attacking position than he has in the past, perhaps that has helped to gain him more attention.

His goalscoring form will also have helped in that matter, with fans delighted to see him chipping in to help out Harry Kane.

They will be hoping that he can continue that form for the rest of the campaign as Pochettino’s side eye a Champions League spot - possibly even a Premier League title challenge.
