Darren O’Dea has taken to social networking site Twitter to defend Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre.
Izaguirre, who plays as a left-back, has been on the books of Scottish Premiership giants Celtic since 2010.
The Honduras international is prone to mistakes and has made some costly errors this season.
The 29-year-old did not start the Europa League Group A encounter against Ajax at Celtic Park on Thursday evening, but came on as a substitute in the 78th minute.
Former Celtic defender O’Dea, who now plays for Indian Super League club Mumbai City FC, believes that Izaguirre has been made a scapegoat in recent times.
Izaguirre a bit of a scapegoat these days but I like him a lot. Been w great servant for the club.— Darren O'Dea (@odea_darren) November 26, 2015
Celtic lost 2-1 to Ajax at home on Thursday evening, meaning that they stand no chance of progressing to the knockout stages of the Europa League this campaign.
Ronny Deila’s side are favourites to win the Scottish Premiership title this season, though, and are also in the hunt for the Scottish League Cup.
