Christian Fuchs says Leicester City just want to avoid relegation

Leicester City are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table.

Leicester City summer signing Christian Fuchs has told ESPN that the club are not getting carried away by their blistering start to the season.

Leicester are currently top of the Premier League table, after the opening 13 matches, and they have caught the eye of all observers.

However, Fuchs insists that the Foxes’ main objective remains to simply avoid relegation – as they set out to do at the start of the season.

"When you ask me now how long we'll stay at the top, I'll say: It's more important to see where we are coming from," the defender said. "The club narrowly escaped relegation last season. We will remain humble and will continue to work hard."

"No objective other than avoiding relegation has been set. This remains our goal, and we need a few more points. It would be nice to secure that by the end of the first half of the season."

Fuchs has made nine appearances for Leicester so far, and he has managed to break into their first team, after showing his class.

The Austrian has played at a high level throughout his career, and his experience has been helpful to Leicester so far.

How long the Foxes will be able to maintain their wonderful start remains to be seen, but if they continue to play with such skill and desire, they should be well served.

Leicester’s next match comes against Manchester United at the weekend, and victory would strengthen their position at the top of the table even further.
