Ajax had another nightmare in the Europa League last night, losing 2-1 to Ajax to end any chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
Despite leading from the third minute, and having a number of chances to finish the game through Leigh Griffiths, it was the Dutch giants who picked up all three points.
Arkadiusz Milik netted the equaliser in the 22nd minute, before Vaclav Cerny rounded off an excellent counter attack in the 87th minute by scoring past Craig Gordon with a precise and powerful shot.
However, there was one Celtic player at fault for this counter attack - Scott Allan.
The winger, who signed from Hibs over the summer, came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute, and he lost the ball on the edge of the Ajax box, allowing the Dutch team to break and score.
It was a bad mistake from Allan, who was something of an attacking spark in the short time he spent on the pitch. He played two key passes and was always looking to create chances, but it was his error which was the most memorable part of just his seventh appearance of the season.
Allan opted to join Celtic this summer, despite boyhood team Rangers making an approach for him, as reported by the Daily Mail. He wanted to switch to the Premiership side rather than Hibs' second division rivals, and so far that move is looking like a mistake; surely he would be playing more if he was part of Mark Warburton's Rangers team.
His career at Parkhead has not started as many expected, and fans took to Twitter at the end of the game to give their opinions on the winger’s performance.
@twistandturns_J I thought Scott Allan was good when he came on . A nice freshness to the team going forward ,like a younger Comnons— Mark Mullen (@cfc1888fc) November 27, 2015
Just remembered #ScottAllan from last night. Genius— mancalledczar (@mancalledczar) November 27, 2015
If Griffiths took one of our chances it would be a different story today. Only positive from last night was Scott Allan— Mark Dunn (@mpdunn) November 27, 2015
Scott Allan on the ball (other than the obvious) is great to watch. Something about him I love.— Rtnb (@Morten_EatHorse) November 27, 2015
I hope Deila plays Scott Allan & Tierney as much as possible over the next few months.— Raffles (@metalrafferty) November 27, 2015
Ridiculous if Scott Allan has had abuse, either 1 mistake after coming on and showing creativity or didn't get a shout, poor communication.— Johnny Ciderpatch (@Gbhoy88) November 27, 2015
That defence splitting through ball from Scott Allan though... Deserved a better finish— Kev (@LiviBhoy) November 27, 2015
@glasgowsgreenw We have a player in Scott Allan who's potential is massive we saw plenty of it tonight apart from the corner— James Patrick (@martyonerous) November 27, 2015
Feel bad for Scott Allan - a few bits of brilliance but all he will be remembered for is losing that ball from the corner.— IrishTerenceSTL (@IrishTerenceSTL) November 27, 2015
#ScottAllan wasn't at fault for the goal. The corner should have went into the box. Go route one. It's worked for us so many times before.— Denny Knox (@NeoCoN7) November 27, 2015
Scott Allan made a mistake tonight - 75 yards out? - but he was hungry, looking to create and could use the ball. More please.— Archduke of Bohemia (@thatguyinprague) November 27, 2015
Scott Allan looks like he has good potential tbh, Ronny should give the younger players a run out more often— . (@_chiddyy88) November 27, 2015
