Celtic fans react on Twitter to Scott Allan's performance v Ajax

Scott Allan chose to sign for Celtic over Rangers in the summer.

Ajax had another nightmare in the Europa League last night, losing 2-1 to Ajax to end any chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.

Despite leading from the third minute, and having a number of chances to finish the game through Leigh Griffiths, it was the Dutch giants who picked up all three points.

Arkadiusz Milik netted the equaliser in the 22nd minute, before Vaclav Cerny rounded off an excellent counter attack in the 87th minute by scoring past Craig Gordon with a precise and powerful shot.

However, there was one Celtic player at fault for this counter attack - Scott Allan.

The winger, who signed from Hibs over the summer, came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute, and he lost the ball on the edge of the Ajax box, allowing the Dutch team to break and score.

It was a bad mistake from Allan, who was something of an attacking spark in the short time he spent on the pitch. He played two key passes and was always looking to create chances, but it was his error which was the most memorable part of just his seventh appearance of the season.

Allan opted to join Celtic this summer, despite boyhood team Rangers making an approach for him, as reported by the Daily Mail. He wanted to switch to the Premiership side rather than Hibs' second division rivals, and so far that move is looking like a mistake; surely he would be playing more if he was part of Mark Warburton's Rangers team.

His career at Parkhead has not started as many expected, and fans took to Twitter at the end of the game to give their opinions on the winger’s performance.
