According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren held a frank training ground meeting with his players after their latest defeat to Leicester City.
Newcastle were beaten 3-0 by Leicester at the weekend, leaving them just one point clear of the drop zone.
McClaren has been left angered by his Newcastle side’s poor opening to the campaign, and he was keen to address any problems in his squad on the training ground.
The former England boss reportedly asked his Newcastle players to voice any concerns that they had over any of their teammates.
He also questioned why they showed such a lack of passion to play for Newcastle against Leicester.
McClaren was said to be angered by his players’ efforts, and he was determined to remind them that they have a responsibility when pulling on the Newcastle shirt.
The Chronicle say that McClaren’s talks have raised the quality in Newcastle’s training sessions, with the players looking much more committed.
The Magpies’ next match comes against Crystal Palace on Saturday, where an improved performance will be demanded from McClaren.
