Southampton are keeping tabs on Porto star Gianelli Imbula, according to reports in Portugal.
The midfielder has been impressive since joining the Primeira Liga outfit from Marseille in July, and newspaper A Bola claims that Ronald Koeman sees the France U21 international as an ideal replacement for unsettled star Victor Wanyama.
Southampton came close to losing the former Celtic man last summer after he put in a transfer request to join Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.
Wanyama insists he has no regrets over his behaviour, but Saints staff are apparently looking at options should the Kenyan try to force a move away once again.
And A Bola believes that top of Koeman’s list is Imbula, who saw a move to Inter Milan collapse before linking up with Porto.
It is claimed that a Southampton scout was in attendance for the 2-0 Champions League defeat against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday night, with additional visits to the Dragao already being planned.
However, whether Porto are ready to part ways with the 23-year-old after half a season remains to be seen.
