The Swiss international is not in Aston Villa's plans and is therefore all set to move on.
Aston Villa are finally looking set to move on Swiss international defender Philippe Senderos this January.
The former Fulham and Arsenal man is nowhere near the first-team at the club and the departure of Tim Sherwood and arrival of Remi Garde does not seem to have changed his standing at the club.
Now it seems he is all set to return home. The Sun report, as relayed by the official Aston Villa website media watch page, that Senderos is keen on a move to his homeland in order to establish himself as a starter for his country ahead of the European Championships next summer.
Senderos is a much maligned figure in the English game but his time at Villa, after arriving on a free transfer from Valencia last summer, has been mainly struck by injury problems.
He has not played for Villa since featuring in a 0-0 draw with West Ham back in November 2014 - meaning he has not featured for the club in over a year.
With that in mind his departure seems to make sense as Villa can clear his wages for a potential recruit in the January market.
Hopefully Senderos can find the right club and fulfill his international ambition next summer.
